Roll a Die

A big, animated die with a running tally of every face.

Roll one die or up to six, from a classic six-sided die with pips to a d20. The tally under the dice counts how often each face has come up, so you can watch randomness even out over many rolls.

Pick how many dice and how many sides, then roll. A six-sided die is drawn with real pips; other dice show numbers. The total and the individual faces are shown after every roll.

The face tally is the fun part for classrooms and curious people: roll a few dozen times and the bars are uneven, roll a few hundred and they level out — the law of large numbers in action. Changing the die type resets the tally.

For mixed pools and notation like 4d6+2, use the full dice roller; for tabletop checks, the d20 roller handles advantage and target numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Is the die fair?

Yes. Each roll uses your browser's cryptographically secure random generator, so every face is equally likely.

Can I roll more than one die?

Yes, up to six at once. You get each die and the total.

What is the tally?

A bar chart of how many times each face has appeared since you started or changed the die type.

Does it work for board games?

Yes. Use two six-sided dice for most board games, or one for games like Ludo.

Are results stored?

No. Everything stays in your browser and resets when you reload.
