The page went online in 1991 at CERN, where Tim Berners-Lee had invented the web. The original pages were not kept carefully, so in 2013 CERN ran a project to restore the first website at its original address, rebuilding what could be recovered. It is a plain page of text and links explaining what the World Wide Web is.
